The Deeper Work Beyond Biohacking: My unexpected path from Reiki Practitioner to Intuitive Purpose Coach
Listen here or read on below…
This week I recorded an interview as a guest speaker on a summit… twice. The host had said she wasn’t happy with her performance. I felt like we’d hit some big points that were important, but agreed we could probably do better.
Then when we got into recording the second time, she shared it was because we’d talked about when clients were not compliant. I don’t think we’d used those words exactly, but I knew the content that she meant and I could see how perhaps some listeners might take it the wrong way.
We’d talked about how healing requires the healer and the person being healed BOTH to actively participate. I see it as the healer reaching into the client’s energy body to pull the blocks out and the client pushing from the inside out - teamwork makes it so much more effective!
In the deleted interview, we shared that biohacking on its own is not effective— in case you didn’t know exactly what that meant (like me), “Biohacking is a "do-it-yourself" (DIY) approach to optimizing one's health, performance, and well-being through intentional, often incremental, changes to diet, lifestyle, and environment. These practices range from widely accepted healthy habits to more experimental or extreme intervention.” Thanks Google & WebMD.
I realized that for many people, treating a single Reiki session as a "one-and-done" fix is also a form of biohacking. It’s seeking a quick energetic alignment without addressing the root behaviors that caused the block in the first place.
But for me this idea of biohacking or receiving a healing session alone not being enough is a HUGE topic that I actually love.
It’s the reason I do what I do.
Understanding Energy Blocks
As a Reiki practitioner, I was fascinated by clients’ energy blocks that I intuitively/psychically saw and threw out the window.
These blocks are things like snakes eating clients alive (from guilt lurking in the sacral chakra, keeping them from experiencing their full joy and passion), big cement blocks on their feet (feeling like they can’t move forward and they are stuck in place - often literally, physically, which is related to the root chakra), or chains around their neck (feeling like their true voice is restricted, often by a particular person or situation).
Most of the blocks were located at the chakras - on or in these energy centers, which helped me understand the significance of the energy. I also sometimes saw the energy centers themselves, sometimes under performing and dull in color or sometimes overcompensating in a way that let them shine brightly, then dissipated.
If you're feeling a little off or unbalanced right now, it's probably stemming from one of a block in one of your chakras needing some love. Take this quiz to see which chakra it is:
Reiki showed me how to work with each one. “A Reiki Master is not someone who masters Reiki, but one who allows Reiki to master them.” - William Lee Rand (those may not be precisely the words, but the idea is solid! Interested in learning Reiki?).
So what do we DO about the energy blocks?
I worked with clients’ blocks and with the clients themselves, sharing the blocks I’d seen after the session. At first that was hard - I worried clients would think I was disconnected from reality, but actually, they leaned closer to share what the blocks came from and to ask what they could do to be sure they didn’t come back.
I always openly shared that I could remove the dense energy in the form of the block, but if they were doing the same things that manifested the blocks in the first place, the blocks would return. Or if the client changed their patterns and behaviors a little, the blocks might return in a new way.
Most of my clients booked in for this part of the session- the intuitive energy reading, but not all. And a lot of the time I didn’t hear back about what happened next, especially with visiting tourists (we’re in Hawaii and many of my clients were visitors). I felt incomplete throwing the blocks out the window and saying, “take care.” I realized I needed to shift my offer and my container to match what I wanted to share.
It wasn’t enough - the Shift to Intuitive Purpose Coaching
So I created Radiant Awakening - my signature coaching program to heal the energy AND THEN figure out what you want to pour it into.
Each week we work through healing a different chakra so that the whole energy body can be cleared and empowered. AND the client can learn the tools to return to again and again to clear themselves as life brings new challenges- this is ongoing work!
Once all these blocks on the outside are cleared, then we can get to the core essence energy at the center of a clients’ being. I see the energy field as the aura beyond the physical body, then these blocks often are sitting on or in the physical body (the longer they’re there the deeper and denser they get). And within the container of the physical body are the chakras, energy channels, and at the very center of it all the core essence. I have seen some very highly attuned and activated Reiki clients’ core essences - like a shining column of white light.
In my coaching work, I learned about this column and its power almost on accident. It seemed all of my clients were coming out of Radiant Awakening with more clarity on their life path and what they felt called to do AND the courage to shift into their new identity and work.
So I updated the description of the program to match - let’s call it what it is! And it really isn’t just healing - it’s the path to divine purpose work - I know because I’ve seen it happen time and time again…
My client who was a world traveler shifting into running competitively and coaching others in running
My client who had just moved setting new roots and a new trajectory as a mental health counselor.
My client who was an elite server clearing a new path into sound healing and energy healing.
So whether you know you want to heal or you know you want to find your purpose, both will be needed and both will be supported with so much love in Radiant Awakening.
So What? The closing
This is a long story to say… one-and-done won’t do it. A session can change your life, yes, but you’ll need to do inner work to hold the change and integrate and embody it. I certainly recommend support as you do the work, but no one can do it for you - you can’t outsource the inner work.
You’ll have to save yourself! (Just like I did after my panic attack, but that’s different story for a different day).
As a coach, it’s my work to see the best in you and help you see it too. I believe in you and I won’t stop until you do too.
